Monitoring Progress

Every child at Abbey Nurseries has an individual Profile Record of Achievement, covering every aspect of intellectual, physical and social development. Records of Achievement are updated every week by the child's keyworker using informal observations and assessments. This allows us to best meet the individual needs of the children and consider the best ways this information can be used to further the child's development.

The Record of Achievement will highlight various milestones in a child's development and it gives parents the opportunity to chart the progress of their child as well as helping them to identify any areas where further support may be required.

Typical milestone events for a three-year-old child could include:

Puts together a jigsaw puzzle
Using scissors
Paints in circular movements
Can thread large beads
Turns pages in a book one by one
Can put on and take off coat

Records of Achievement are always available for parents to look at and can be discussed at our Parent's Evenings.
