Visiting The Pre-School Room

The 3-5 Rooms are colourful, attractive and stimulating. The walls are decorated in colourful displays of the children's work connected with the current topic they are covering.

The layout of the 3-5 Rooms is a large open space separated into areas where the children can enjoy a variety of activities. Abbey Nursery's Early Years Curriculum includes every activity that takes place in pre-school education.

Independence is encouraged in this age group. This will be developed through activities such as your child starting to dress themselves, music and movement, selecting their own food at snack times or visiting the toilet with minimal adult support.

The introduction of computers will help the children develop concentration, hand-eye coordination and recognition skills. Dance and movement, gym club and drama classes take place throughout the week. The children will learn to grow their own flowers and vegetables in the garden, celebrate festivals from around the world and will be encouraged to participate in nursery activities such as the Christmas Play, where parents and relatives are welcome to come and watch. The child to adult ratio in this age group is one to eight.
